Respiratory Protection
Course Length: 4 Hours Class Size: Up to 10 Students
Service Description
In the United States, an estimated 5 million workers are required to wear respirators for their safety in 1.3 million workplaces. These respirators play a crucial role in shielding workers from harmful and life-threatening hazards such as harmful dusts, fogs, smokes, mists, gases, vapors, and sprays that may cause cancer, lung impairment, diseases, or even death. Compliance with the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard can help prevent hundreds of deaths and thousands of illnesses each year. This standard ensures that employers provide respirators that are suitable for their employees and the work environment. Employers are also required to establish a comprehensive respiratory protection program that includes training, fit testing, medical evaluations, and procedures for respirator use and maintenance. This course is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of OSHA requirements and effective respiratory program management. It covers topics such as selecting the right respirator, developing a respiratory protection program, and conducting medical evaluations and fit testing. OSHA requires annual retraining which makes the certificate valid for only one year from completion date.
